SMOKE-FREE CAMPUS
As part of the “Smoke-Free Campus Initiative”, our university has introduced
regulations that aim to prevent passive smoking and reduce smoking by
limiting the use of tobacco and tobacco products. These regulations are based
on the Law No. 4207 on the Prevention and Control of Harms of Tobacco
Products and the circulars of the Ministry of Health.
The scope of the initiative is as follows:
The initiative covers all academic and administrative
staff, students and university visitors.
Tobacco use is banned in certain areas of the
campus and it is allowed only in designated areas.
Main Elements of the Initiative:
Smoke-free areas are marked at the building
entrances and tobacco products are allowed at least
10 meters away from these areas.
Administrative fines are imposed on smokers and
inspections are carried out by authorized personnel.
Cigarettes are not sold at any point on campus.
Smoking is prohibited in campus vehicles.
Smoking cessation services are offered at Erciyes
University Health Application and Research Center.
Social Support and Awareness:
The Young Green Crescent Club organizes activities
to support smoke-free campus initiatives. The
university conducts awareness raising activities
through social media during the Green Crescent
Week-March 1-7 every year.
These regulations have entered into force with the
approval of the Erciyes University Senate and the
initiative is conducted by the University Rectorate.
