ONE LIFE ONE LIVER


                                                   Prof.  Dr.  Bilgehan  Aygen,  a  faculty  member  at
                                                   the  Department  of  Infectious  Diseases  and

                                                   Clinical  Microbiology/ERU  Faculty  of  Medicine,
                                                   gave  information  about  the  transmission
                                                   routes of chronic viral hepatitis, the severity of
                                                   the  disease,  geographical  distribution  and
                                                   prevention methods on the occasion of “July 28

                                                   World  Hepatitis  Day”.  She  stated  that  deaths
                                                   due  to  hepatitis    increased  in  the  world  while
                                                   deaths  due  to  tuberculosis  and  HIV  infection
                                                   decreased.

           She said that viral hepatitis would claim the lives of more people by 2040 than

           malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS combined if the current trend continued. In
           addition,  she  touched  upon  the  importance  of  individual  effort  and  the
           importance  of  cooperation  in  diagnosing  the  disease  and  raising  public
           awareness. She laid stress on “One Life, One Liver”.
                                                                      MAY 5 WORLD HAND HYGIENE DAY



       Various activities were organized to raise awareness and to boost the morale of pediatric
       patients  on  the  occasion  of  “May  5  World  Hand  Hygiene  Day”  at  KANKA  Pediatric
       Hematology-Oncology  Hospital.  The  healthcare  professionals  who  were  chosen  as  Hand
       Hygiene Champions were presented with flowers and gifts at the Meeting Hall of the Chief

       Physician’s Office. Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Fatih Horozoğlu, Deputy Chief Physicians Prof.
       Dr.  Kemal  Deniz  and  Asst.  Prof.  Şahin  Temel,  Assoc.  Prof.  Gamze  Kalın  Ünüvar,  a  faculty
       member  at  the  Department  of  Infectious  Diseases  and  Clinical  Microbiology  and
       Chairperson  of  the  Hospital  Infection  Control  Board,  Asst.  Prof.  Zeynep  Türe,  a  faculty

       member at the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology, Chief Nurse
       Fatma  Yeşil,  Deputy  Chief  Nurses  and  the  Infection  Control  Board  Nurses  attended  the
       event.
