POND

The pond with a water capacity of 12,000 m³, located in the central campus of
ERU, is filled with an underground submersible pump. In summer months, the

pond meets the water requirement of approximately 100,000 m² of green area.
The pond is circulated by three 18.5 Kw pumps to prevent algae formation in
stagnant water. In addition, two fountains are used in the middle of the pond

to increase the oxygen content of water. The pond is cleaned twice a year by
applying chemicals that do not harm grass and fish growth.

In this context, the pond area has become suitable
for the cultivation of freshwater carp. This fish
species is easy to breed as it adapts to any

temperature. Hunting is prohibited within the
university to ensure ecological balance.
Our university contributes to the aquaculture
sector, which is developing rapidly in our country

and in the world, by training veterinarians
experienced in the diagnosis, treatment and
preventive medicine of fish diseases. It also
contributes to the protection and control

programs that can be established in our country by
controlling some diseases that can cause serious
economic losses and zoonoses originating from
aquaculture products that threaten public health.
